Has anyone else found that this board is slow? Compared to other sites, this one seems to struggle with posting to threads and doing searches, at least from my perspective.

What was that about SloDJ.com???

Are you having some sort of loading problem with the website? I've been told by some people that it happens some of the time, but most of the time it's fast. It's been hard to put a finger on what the problem might be.

Could you provide more details about how often, when and what the symptoms are when it occurs?

Thanks!

for me, it's always been slow, whether at home or at work location. When I click on a forum topic, it takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds (sometimes even longer) before the page will display. I've just kind of lived with it though, but it's always been that way for me as long as I can remember.

I'm on a dialup, and this site is plenty fast!

I'm also on dial-up -- works wonderfully for me!

(Got to see it on wireless broadband over theThanksgiving Holiday -- it really flew!)

Hmmm... still hard to say what the problem could possibly be since it's consistently slow for some, yet fast for others.

I'll have to test a few different things to find out what it could be.

One problem is that when the website is tested by other servers, it's blazing fast. The problem seems to be when it's being downloaded by certain people -- is it browser, operating system or computer specific? Does it have to do with location? Website design?
Not sure... :?

When I had trouble with this site, the problem was generally right here with my computer. It was not anything else. I use cable broadband and of late I have not had troubles with this site.

I know I'm on a dial-up, so I don't expect 'instant' pages, but except for where pictures are posted, things are very acceptable -- guess I'm spoiled, I started working with computers back with commodore 64 then Wang, then IBM PS2 -- I remember 12 mhz processors, and writing programs to run 'fast' in that environment!

Most of my 'page load' problems (I think) have been tied to cache -- maybe users need to clean out their cache more often - some may not even know how to clean their cache files.

You ARE spoiled! :hahaha: When I started programming, Microsoft was in diapers, and the commercial computing world consisted of mainframes!

Been there, done that. Reponse time is still sluggish.

Bryan, I made a couple of performance-boosting changes... is it still just as slow for you? Or a little faster?

Could you be more specific on exactly where the slowdown is or how it appears on your computer?

Thanks!

My Formal computer training was a 3 hr class in Fortran -- it was obsolete before I got the punch cards fed through the card reader.

CJ -- Thanks for any/all efforts -- we really appreciate an administrator who works with us!

Today, it seems to be going much faster for me. I'll post again in a couple days if it stays just as good or if it seems slow again.

While I did notice a boost in performance and better page-loading response... I don't think that it's as fast as it could be yet.

Your thoughts?
