Am kinda up against it guys and gals, so here goes.
Have been trying to read the various postings here to see if anyone had any info I could use and, unfortunately, I don't have the time necessary to slog through them all. My situation is this - wedding is this Saturday, September 24th. (This is one of those "last minute gigs" that I seem to be getting right now...just got started and this is my second wedding/reception...BOTH have been of the last minute variety, but this one is more so!) The Groom's Mother has been sorta dragging her feet about what song she would like to dance to with her son. "The man you've become" was a song she had heard a little bit of and she wanted my opinion. I don't have the song and had never actually heard it myself. However, I did find an audio file that I could listen to on the Internet. Not a bad song but it didn't exactly give me goose bumps.
Now that we know where I am headed, here is the question. Can you post here (or e-mail me at hilliardth@yahoo.com) some suggestions for other good songs for the Groom and his Mother to dance to???
Would be MORE than greatly appreciated! By the by, no pressure here but I spoke to the Mom last night (Monday, September 19th) and told her I'd get back to her tonight (09/20) with some suggestions! (hehehe....talk about quick and quick....
Thanks again!

| A personal favorite, and the song I danced with my own mother, is Paul Anka's "Times Of Your Life". It was used in a Kodak commercial about 10 years ago. |

Great song! It was a hit in 1975 or 1976, and Kodak seized it for the TV spot very soon thereafter (maybe late '70s way into the '80s). |

Want goosbumps? Listen to Ricky Skaggs / Thanks again - a song for mom AND dad (so dad don't feel left to just watch the dance)...
Another good one (more upbeat) James Taylor / How Sweet It Is (To be loved by you)

One of my favorite songs that would probably do well as father or mother dance is The Table by Riley Armstrong...
The table's where my father thanked the Lord for providing
The table's where he sat us down and told us to stop fighting
At the table there were tears, at the table there was laughter
The table's where my mother brought the fruits of her labors
We never did go hungry although there were times we were able
At the table love prevailed, at the table love was always there
CHORUS:
I was always safe and warm
Sheltered from the sticks and stones
And although time passed by and we moved on
I will still pray Lord keep my family strong
Cause life out there isn't how life
Was around the table
The table's where my family shared the joys and the sorrows
Stories of the day and the goals for tommorow
At the table someone listened, at the table someone always cared
And I will never forget all the memories at the table
Holidays with relatives and coffee with the neighbors
At the table we were home, at the table we were never alone
(chorus)
BRIDGE:
Around the table we were one
Round the table we were fortunate to grow up
And as we ask to be excused we
never will remove it from our hearts
(chorus) |
