Uplighting/monogram, projector/screen, emcee rates
So what are you charging/getting in your area. Be as detailed as you wish.
For me, Uplighting first 4 fixtures $250, each additional $50 per. This price point is working very well.
Monogram using a 100 watt Rotogobo in static mode or a projector on a wall $250. 3 sold for this summer.
Up to 8' foot screen, 3300 lumen projector $350, if 2,000 lumens $250. Averaging 2 sold per month this summer.
If they want beyond the basic DJ music player. Upgraded packages featuring an emcee start at $300 more depending on how in-depth things are. Most all go this route or call back upgrading to this package after realizing the importance.
Wedding I'm doing today is featuring all the above plus my Deluxe DJ lighting system another $200 upcharge.
Upcharges is where the money is at, but you have to ask for it and be bold don't when doing so, don't toss it in to get the booking because there is no value to you or the service when doing such.
Make it sound like not everyone can do it is the secret to upselling!
Headed off to a meeting in 15 minutes for an upsell consultation. Already been hired as the DJ/Emcee this is the production meeting. $$$$ |

I don't "upsell" nor do I have any "Foo Foo" (unneeded extra fluff).
Monogram gobos look cheesy: you might as well hang a corny banner on the wall too!
Projectors & screens bog down the event. I don't want them ruining my functions, and I've got enough prospects to the point where I do not need to have foo foo items in my inventory, for these idiots! (Anyone who wants to embarrass themselves for 20 minutes with stupid baby pictures, and bore their guests for the same 20 minutes.....is an IDIOT)
I like simple setups, simple teardowns, and short consultations (just one, only 30 to 40 minutes in length). |

Matt, no need for a mic, who wants to hear a DJ think they are Mr. Radio. No need for music, who wants to hear those cheesy songs DJs play. No need for taking a shower before the event, most people think DJs already stink.
But booze is a must, that's the real reason people come to and stay at the party. |

Hahaha........very funny Robert!
I have Karaoke....because its music related
I have lighting.....because (at the proper event) it enhances the MUSIC.
sometimes I will UPSELL these items but ONLY when they are necessary to enhance the music & entertainment of an event.
Monogrammed gobos? don't fit my definition of event enhancement
Projectors/Screens for a Slide Show? same thing: in fact they detract from the main purpose of having fun, because they are boring and stupid.
My customers don't go for the FOO FOO.
They want: MUSIC, lighting (sometimes), and Karaoke (maybe). |

And I thought I was hostile. So you're saying that if the client wants a song you think is cheesy, you wouldn't play it?
I hate logo gobos, too. But they sell and they make me a lot of money. |

| I would not do a logo gobo. If someone wants something like that, I'd simply run it through my video projector. Accomplish the same thing and no expense of having to get a custom gobo made. |

| Oh yeah, and every time I've ever done a slideshow with a projector, it has always only ever played during dinner time, never during dance time. Therefore, it does not become a distraction to the party time. |

Rotating gobo with standard design = $150+
Rotating gobo with custom design = $250+
Projector with whatever slides/images they want == even better! |
