I myself got sorta impatient......site in Beta far too long.....
then I discovered that Yahoo is counting hundreds of DJ Gold posts as back links.
Even though its completely worthless to Google.....since Yahoo still counts for 25% of the searches where people find my company, I guess it behooves me to continue to post here, since each post contains a siggy and every siggy is helping my ranking at Yahoo non-sponsored search. |

| I'm not much of a board poster anywhere anymore. Unfortunately, a national DJ association and certain proclaimed 'industry leaders' ruined the chat board experience for me. |

| I've just been hibernating for the winter, moving, and getting ready for the busy Spring/Summer season. |

Good to see you back, Matt, even if it's just to stir up some trouble once in a while. :D
Things have been a bit slow around here lately, but I think we make up for it with the quality. |

Hi DJMC -- welcome back!
Actually, we have lots of folks that are regular posters/lurkers. I just recently dumped a lot of folks who were registered but not listed in the directory and hadn't posted.
Anyway -- I read your post (and the other post that said the same essential thing).
I believe that the folks who stuck around after you disappeared -- and the new folks that have joined since then -- did so because of the teaching/learning/sharing here on the DJGold forum. Perhaps in addition to your link rating on Yahoo, you'll get something out it too?
As for DJGold going out of Beta -- I'll be glad to charge you if you want, but since you already mentioned (in the other post) that you're trying to drop paid advertising, I guess that would be counter-productive, wouldn't it? 8)
Again, welcome back, and enjoy! |

Thanks CJ for the prompt reply...LOL
Seriously though--- I realize that you operate DJ Gold as a non-profit.
Its too bad that most DJs don't realize that all the other boards use "no follow" in their coding. By having an unblocked tag, you are essentially providing us with Link Juice that could one day rival being in DMOZ or Yahoo Directory.
Eventually, you could FORCE us all to provide DJ Gold with much-deserved recips. |

I just don't have much to say.
Although I am glad John Guppy was fired but that's NDJR.
I think I'll go have a beer and take a nap. |

I've considered the reciprocal links... but decided that until I've created an easy way for DJs to include those links on their websites, I won't require them of anybody. As time permits, I'll take a look at it again.
Thanks, |

Thanks,
It would be easy for me. But are you saying that by having reciprocal links it benefits both our search engine positioning? |

It sure does!
Most of the search engines adjust how their results are displayed based on several criteria, including exact match, relevance and popularity. The popularity and relevance components are influenced by several things, including how many RELEVANT links there are to your website.
If you have thousands of links from websites that have nothing in common with yours, then the search engines will likely ignore those links. However, if you have lots of links from websites such as DJGold that have everything in common with your website (mobile DJ/Entertainment/Weddings/Parties/etc.), then those links count a lot more.
And there's more: if the websites that link to your website are "popular", then you'll get even more benefit since the popular relevant websites linking to yours are given even more weight when determining your listing position.
So how do you get links from a "popular", "relevant" website? Well... you make a relevant website popular!
You already know that you have lots of links pointing from DJGold to your website. Some come from you signature, but even more come from other pages in the DJGold Search Engine that you may never even see, but I've programmed for just that purpose: to give your website lots of links and relevance.
The key is to make DJGold more popular, so that all these links to your website have more weight.
That's why if lots of DJs have links to DJGold making it more popular, the reciprocal links pointing to your website will have more weight and help your own website go to the top of the page in your favorite search engines! |

| I've had a reciprocol link for years. Long time ago, someone generated some small logo icons to use for that purpose. |
