So... my new KV2 EX 2.2 subwoofer finally arrived, and I had to test it out.

The garage probably wasn't the best idea for a test location, but I just couldn't wait for the show this Friday.

I got it all plugged in and started playing songs through the subwoofer only - no tops. I had the volume knob on the back of the speaker at +6dB and I could hear lows pretty well, and even some mids. Hmmmm, wait a minute, who messed with my mixer? The low knob on my mixer's EQ was turned all the way down.

I fixed my mixer's settings, set the subwoofer's gain back to 0dB, and started the music again.

WOW.

I walked way out in the front yard and realized that I'd have to terminate the experiment in a few minutes before my neighbors complained. The speaker was sitting at the mouth of my garage and putting out an amazing amount of sound. I put in a few good bass songs (some hip hop, Cha-Cha Slide, Subwoofer Test, etc.) and I could feel the bass vibrating my whole body. I had it turned up way loud, but no clipping whatsoever -- green lights all the way on the back of the speaker.

________________

The experiment was terminated when my wife came out of our (brick) house, yelling that pictures were falling off the wall in the living room.

After about 45 minutes of cleaning up glass from broken frames, it's time to go find some chocolate or something to help with the apologies to the wife. I'll have to wait 'till Friday to test the KV2 EX 2.2 some more. 8)

Plead innocent . . . YOU WERE FRAMED! :hahaha:

On page nine of the manual in the fine print it states, "Caution, may cause structural damage."

Enjoy.

I cant wait to check out that sub, Bill I really am coming soon!

I had a similar experience with my B-52 ACT 18 about a year ago. I was living in a little college apartment/townhouse sort of thing. And I had the sub in my room, with the rest of my equipment. Some people were over hanging out, and asked about my equipment... so i had to demo it. I had the sub cranking so hard, that the glass globe around the light in our dining room rattled itself loose and fell and broke all over the apartment. I've never been more proud!

Yep, I've had the ole pictures falling off the wall problem before too. (good problem to have)

I was playing in a school cafetorium (part cafateria, part auditorium) with the suspended tile celing stuff, and so much dirt and dust was falling from the ceiling that it almost looked like a layer of snow settled on my equipment. (Peavey QW218 subs)

That IS a very good sub.....as it SHOULD be for 3x the cost of an ACT-18 sub.
