sounds to me like they're introducing a new generation of them and they're trying to get them off the shelves. Just a hunch though

Or they're experiencing slow sales, possibly due to the many products that offer similar feature sets at competing prices. The JBL Eons were the first, then the Mackies arrived and took away a lot of the Eon marketshare. But they were still the only two players on the block for a time. Now there are MANY competitors in the "lightweight powered speaker" segment.
