Hi All!

I'm doing background music for a fashion show, and am looking for some ideas on INSTRUMENTAL music selections.

If you have any title suggestions, I'd be so SO very appreciative.

They've broken it down into themed segments, and need about 4 or 5 songs for each segment.

"Garden segment", they want "soft classics", but not "classical". I'm open to your ideas and suggestions, since I have no idea (nor do they) what they even think they want here.

"Beach Segment" - easy - Venturas / Surf selections, Calypso - I've got a-plenty of this!

"Formal segment" - here they want high-energy stuff "Get Ready For This" kind of energy, and regognizeable tunes. If you can think of any good instrumental titles in this vein, that would be awesome.!

I don't need "Fashion" my David Bowie, or "I"m Too Sexy" !

Thank you all my fabulous DJ friends!
Sharon

Well, there are so many factors you can consider what the age demographics of the crowd, what kind of atmosphere to the fashion show hosts want? etc. etc.

In my experience, house, breakbeat, trance music work great for fashion shows. They are upbeat, non vocal (usually), have a tempo that the models can walk to, and are modern forms of music, which goes well with modern fashion.

Here are some good picks, I you think this music could work for your show:

Pete Tong - Essential mix
Paul Oakenfold - Traveling (2 disc set).
DJ Icey - For the love of the beat, (good breakbeat)!
Just about any will work, Chemical Brothers.

You can also find popular rock or pop songs with house or trance remixes these are always good as more people will recognize the music but they mostly likely have singing in the tracks.

Anyways hope that helps, and welcome to the best DJ forum around!!!

hmmm, soft classics, but not classical. Maybe stuff from the 60's? Henry Mancini or Herb Alpert? Or maybe even older like some of the standards from the 40's? Lots of instrumentals there.

Oh, just thought of some more classic sounding stuff, but not "classical"... Ferrante and Teicher have lots of good instrumentals. From the 60s mainly, lot's of broadway hits and such.

I've picked something from everyone's suggestions, and the show producers are pleased with the mix.

Thanks for the help, one and all!
