Have undertaken a project in the last few months in locating 'single versions' of older songs from the 1970s-1990's. Utilizing sites like GEMM.com, Musicstack.com and a local corner record shop, and borrowing a friend's USB turntable, have been able through vinyl 45's and CD singles get MP3's of the versions we actually heard on the radio at that point.
It's not been an inexpensive venture but alot of fun!
Sure, you're all saying, "what's wrong with the album version?" Well, rather would play a 3 or 4 minute version instead of a 6 or 8 minute version. There are obvious exceptions to the rule, such as "American Pie" and "Piano Man" as our clients have heard nothing BUT the album versions.
Thought I'd share... :) |
