Hi guys, I am from South Florida, here we can't play a party without someone requesting it. What are the hits you are playing in your city and what songs are they requesting. In South Florida they are requesting:

1-Eso Ehh - Alexis y Fido
2-LLame pa' verte - Wisin y Yandel
3-Rompe - Daddy Yankee
4-Dejale Caer To' El Peso (remix)- Hector El Father y Yomo ft. Tempo
5-Te Suelto El pelo

No particular order.

I have played Rompe for a few weeks. Yet, within the last 2 months, I started getting requests for Gasolina which is a year old! I knew Erie was slow, but not that slow!!

Reggaeton is a non-entity here in rural Northern Cali.

Although I do get requests for it when I play for hispanic crowds.

I think I can recall one request for Gasolina. I didn't have it at the time, so I downloaded it and have never neen asked about it again! I doubt most people up here in the north even know what Reggaeton is... They only place one might hear it around here is in a club. I've never heard any radio play either. Too bad... it's fun music.

I get requests half the time. And yeah, Gasolina is over a year old, but seems some are only just now discovering it.

My most popular reggaeton requests, somewhat in order, are:

Gasolina (Daddy Yankee)
Dale Don Dale (Don Omar)
Pa' Que Retozen (Tego Calderon)
Reggaeton Latino (Don Omar)
Rompe (Daddy Yankee)
Oye Mi Canto (NORE)
Dile (Ivy Queen)

When I'm in that mode, I also like to play:

Tempted to Touch (Rupee's Daddy Yankee mix)
Dat Sexy Body (Sasha's Ivy Queen mix)

PS. I'm in NYC.

Latin music, including reggaeton, has been very popular in the Houston area. Here are a couple of websites that list the most popular songs.

the hip thing to do around here is run a acapella over a reg. beat. there are reg. remixes all over the radio mix shows. 2 reg. stations have popped up the last year or so. they also play hip hop....

i get alot of my reg. music from a buddy in the houston area. we often trade remixes.

Wow, yeah, that is funny because there is such a demand for reggaeton in Houston that they've dedicated a whole radio station to it, http://mega101houston.com/main.html .
There are restaraunts that close at night just to play reggaeton, like an after hours club. Most Hispanic clubs play reggaeton. In addition they have the "megaton" concerts that are pure reggaeton artists that play all day and they get sold out. If your buddy has not had this population, it's just a matter of time.

His clientele might not be of this genre, I heard him say on other forums that he does not play much Latin events, the majority of his events are American Music.

Saludos DJ Freddy.

Yes, I agree and think you've just summed it up. It all boils down to the population you are playing for. As djmc states, "Reggaeton is a non-entity here in rural Northern Cali. Although I do get requests for it when I play for hispanic crowds." A person who doesn't play for Hispanic crowds would assume and conclude that reggaeton is not popular, a sampling/selection bias. I'm currenty destroying my brain by studying this useless stuff now, epidemiology. :) What a coincidence. Where's the nerd icon/avtar with the glasses?

Wow Donny! Please elaborate on "that mode" that you get in.

NYC has lots of Puerto Ricans, Dominicanos, Cubanos, Hispanics of all flavors. You must get some requests? I mean, I know salsa and merengue/rumba, bachata would probably be more popular there, right?

Yes, I do get to play for a lot of Hispanics. They are usually great events, and the music is great for dancing. Nearly 30% of the population in NYC is Hispanic/Latino.

By "that mode" I meant when I'm doing a lot of reggaeton sets. The two songs I mentioned aren't exactly reggaeton but usually appeal to the same dance crowd.

I do get a huge call for salsa and merengue, not much bachata or rhumba. Cha chas are still popular, especially for older crowds.

Doh! Oops, of course. Sorry Donny. Since I only slept 2 hours last night I'm having trouble with my abstract thinking. I assumed that you meant something else when you mentioned "that mode," as in feelings and emotions. It didn't occur to me that you were talking about playing a set of music.

I like Tempted to Touch too and even though I don't remeber Dat Sexy Body I'm sure I'll like it if has anything to do with Ivy Queen. :)
