Sorry if this is the wrong location for this post but I wasnt sure where else to do so.

Im looking for upbeat Irish music that I can play in bar on St. Pattys day.

I normally play songs like celtic symphony, never mind the stranger, funky celi etc.

Anyone have suggestions for other songs or where to look???

Looking for the faster stuff more current stuff not so much the traditional stuff.

Irish Rovers - Unicorn is probably the most requested Irish song I have. Of course, I don't have much Irish music. I'm generally talking about non-Irish people who want to hear Irish music on St Patty's day.

Other songs I may play include:

Bing Crosby - Same Old Shillelagh
Bing Crosby - With My Shillelagh
Guy Lombardo - MacNamara's Band
Irish Rovers - Wiskey On A Sunday

Preview some Irish Folk by Tommy Makem, and/or The Clancy Brothers (with whom Tommy Makem sang as well). You'll find many upbeat, non-traditional selections such as Wild Colonial Boy, Whiskey in the Jar, Tim Finnegan’s Wake, Irish Rover, as well as a host of great drinkin' songs; none of that Toora-Loora-Loora stuff here. Back in the 70's I played guitar and sang these very same songs during my Folk phase. These songs (and many others liker them) are still, and will always remain, popular in Irish pubs (state side and abroad).

I'll pull out my River Dance music, boost the volume way up and let it rip around the house. The neighbor asks me what's all that noise, and I tell them I hired an exterminator to come assist with my bug problem. It's just that they don't use chemicals.

I like things by the Irish Decendants, the Chieftans, Ballydowse and my brother is checking on this group from Boston tonight for me down in Norfolk called the "Drop Kick Murphy's"

That Ultimate St Patrick's Day Party Album is a sure fire winner. I've had it for many years. You might also check out the group Black 47 for some upbeat hip-hop Celtic fare. A Scottish Band known as Brother has a couple of albums out that really rock the house with Celtic Music. Of course there are the standards by PaddyNoonan which you can get from Rego Records, another great source of Irish Music.
