I didn't vote either up or down.
I find it annoying, but clients love it.
Since I'm there to please the client, I grit my teeth and play it. :? |

| Awww, c'mon guys! It's not THAT obnoxious. The good news is we won't be getting requests for it years from now, unlike the macarena! |

| I'm with Scott. It's annoying as hell, but I'll play it if it's requested. Kids love it. Maybe it'll disappear like the Ketchup song did! :smash: |

Are you playing it for adult crowds or kids?
I don't think I EVER played it except at a Bar Mitzvah.
Guys, you should keep up on the Radio Disney Top-30: http://radio.disney.go.com/music/top30.html At least before doing a kids gig.
The songs on that list tend to stay on that list for a long time. There are also a a bunch of artists that have multiple songs on it. It's quite unlike a normal Top-40 list.
Current examples:
#1 Crazy Frog
#3 Cha Cha Slide
#7 Hamster Dance |

| Like DJDonny --- High Energy Intro Bed -- Never seen anybody dance to it -- and would never use it for an 'adult' event. |

| I use it more for a music bed as well. I've used it several times for the garter toss, and for teen dances. I no longer get the response I did in the begining, but As long as I get a decent responce, I will continue to pop it in on occassion. Personally though, I always liked Axel F, and found this to add a bit of freshness to the track. |

| I actually don't play this anymore, but if you do the Ultimix 116 version has less of the annoying frog chorus in it. |

I would have to agree... We are not there to play what we want. We are There to please the clients.
There are lots of songs that I don't like anymore due to the fact that they get requested and played alot.
Some samples:
- YMCA
- Chicken Dance
- The Electric Slide
- and many many more (to many to list)
These are must have songs. There are hundreds of songs in my library that I don't like and can't stand. |

OK.....I'm gonna sound like a hypocrite.......
But, on Friday nite we had a very "Cheesy" crowd at the club.....so I was in the middle of a "techno" set and I decided to drop "Crazy Frog" into the mix.....they went nuts!
(this was somewhat of an anomaly.....our normal Friday nite crowd wants mostly hip hop and hates ALL techno). |

| I am actualy pi$$ed at my area (DC, VA). The good club scene has dissapeared. All anyone wants to hear now is Hip-Hop and it has ruined some area clubs. A few years ago, DC was #3 on the club scene scale in America and now there is virtualy nothing. Most of the music that has came out in the past few years is all crap - BUT we must learn to love it..Our job depends on it :) |

I can honestly say that I haven't ever played it at a gig, even though I do have the song!

Not true . . . you just need to gear yourself towards a different audience! |

It's not what you play, it's how you play the crowd
the "typical"mobile dj here (and i am sure in the states) plays the same 50 songs from a hundred song playlist, boring and they add the variety of requests (which are usually the same 50 song playlist) to fill up the missing 10 songs of the evening.
and you know what i am talking about, the bunnyhop...please
chicken dance...come on
i knew the bride...oh the irony
mony mony...lets get crude and rude
unchained melody...ah the memories
electric boogie(slide)...have you ever seen anybody ever dance this, or at least right?
need i go on
it is said becouse it is participation, yada yada
now playing the crowd, that is the ticket to a good time not only for you, but the audience, and it sets the apart the gods from the press play djs
and the doc is correct, a client is not coming to audition you, THEY WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE LEGIT
not gonna take their deposit (or full payment) and head to tijiauna
oh yeah i invite to come and listen to Radio Station CRZD internet stream via www.crazyds.com for a sample of fun, and different music, yet totally playable at just about any function |

Unfortunately, it's just the opposite for a high school dance. They do only want the top 50 and want the DJ to be basically just a human jukebox. I don't mind, makes my job easy. But for wedding receptions or other parties, yes, you can be more interactive and play the crowd.

Actually, yes, one time, there was a group of people who actually did dance this correctly, and did a very good job of it too. But yeah, that and the others in your list I usually don't play unless I get a request for it. |

Slightly off topic, but my area (Metro Detroit, Michigan) is different to most parts of the country (and maybe Canada too?) in that we hardly ever play, or even get a request for the Electric Boogie (slide). Here, it's the "Detroit Hustle" danced to "My Eyes Don't Cry" by Stevie Wonder. We end up playing that one almost every time out. People here love it. I guess that's what you'd expect when you live in Motown! |
