|
|
I've been using Promo Only for sometime now and I'm looking for some other subscription services. I don't plan on ending my subscription with Promo Only, its just that with them I end up with alot of songs that never get played or requested (at least in my area). I've broused back threw the forums and could only find a few other services ....
Prime Cuts
RPM
ERG Music
Are there any others?
Do they provide the same amount of music? With Promo Only you only get 1 CD a month with about 18 to 20 songs for each type of format (ie. Mainstream Radio, Country Radio, Club etc.)?
Which service would you recommend and why? |

I was a long time subscriber to RPM and about 4 years ago changed to TM Century. About a year ago I thought I'd put my entire library on my hard drive. I only wanted the songs that actually made the charts. So anything that did not at least make the "Hot 100" was left off. I was surprised that with the RPM disc you were lucky to have 10 songs per disc that charted. Now with Prime Cuts every song, usually 18 to 20 tunes, makes the top 30 on the Radio & Records chart.
Unlike Promo only you get a new disc every week. And unlike RPM you don't have to pay extra to have weekly delivery.
I strongly recommend TM Century's Prime Cuts. |

I've been using ERG since volume 30, and have found it has been hitting only about 70% of the top 100, so with that, when my subscription ends in feb, I will already have started my TMCentury membership. My investigations have revealed they seem to be a bit more pro active getting the hits out to you sooner, and with more of them. It will cost about $100 more if I recall, but I will also be getting a better service. I've seen members of chat sites request songs, and get them on a soon to follow release, I've seen the customer service they've offered, and I've even had a few samples of their discs. They appear to be first rate in everything they do. On top of that, there is also the primecuts + service that adds alot to the service in itself.
An extra $100/year well spent IMO. |

As it stands so far, It looks like TM Century's Prime Cuts is the best all around. More top chart songs per CD and more CDs per month (every two weeks) along with better customer service for their subscribers.
I will like to see some more replies to this topic before making my decision.
Thanks....I'll be checking back. |

It seems as though you're knocking our CDs....have you used them? We send out over 500,000 CDs every year...and have less than 100 that have problems with them. If there are any problems we promptly send out a new one--no questions asked. In my opinion that's a pretty good success rate. Also, I believe your service of choice also burns their CDs for their weekly customers. There is NO service that can put out a weekly product without burning CDs.
As a DJ, I have been using PrimeCuts for over 4 years. I have over 250 PrimeCuts CDs and have never had a problem with any of them. My priority is getting every song when I need it so I'm happy to use a quality burned CD.

If you would like a free sample and some literature about our PrimeCuts please PM me or e-mail me your mailing address and we'll send a package out to you. Thanks for your interest in our service. |

A correction to an above post:
TMCentury discs are shipped EVERY week (52 weeks a year), and contain all the Radio Edit hits that crack the Top 30 Charts of the AC, Hot AC, CHR, Urban, Country, Rock/Alternative, Dance and Christian formats.
The PrimeCuts CDs typically contain between 18 to 21 tracks each week, for approximately 1,000+ Top 30 tracks per year. |

.
TM has a good product. I, however, used ERG Nu Music Traxx as I liked getting songs before they were in the Top 30 range. Contrary to Jeff's experience, I found I had about 90% of the BB Hot 100 using this issue from ERG. The same results may apply to other services but heck, I didn't have enough money to subscribe to them all to see....
Each user will have their own preference; theat's why we have the choices. If one service were to fit all, there would be only one provider.

They're all great services.......I like my RPM monthly (those pressed-in-a-factory CDs are really louder).
Can't say about RPM weekly, I guess if they use green discs for their weeklys then it would be the same problem of sounding quieter on my board. I like being able to set my mixer input levels the same for all discs. If I switch now, then I'm going to have to manually adjust between different mfgs.
I've recommended TMC to about a dozen DJs personally, they all love the quality. I've also recommended RPM to quite a few. Everyone is happy. |

Glad to see Ron, that you had a better experience. My 70% was based on top 100 last spring for the last 3 years music releases. I actually also found that on the Primecuts discs, the music was release many times before I recieved it on NMT.
I used the TMO hot 100 for the basis of my analysis. |

I recieved about 10 e-mails from people about this post and many were current ERG users interested in seeing when we release songs as compared to ERG. We create these charts every month so thought this might of interest to some of you here too:

Jim -
Interesting chart, although the percentages are wrong.
Do you have a similar chart to compare to Promo Only? After all, this thread started with a post about Promo Only. |

Well math defnitely isn't my strong suit....but what should they be? Isn't it:
- 25/30= 83.3% (rounded to 83%)
- 2/30= .06% (rounded to 1%)
- 3/30= 10%
Sure...here's a Promo chart. I have charts like these for the last 4-5 months. If anyone wants to see them please e-mail me.

Jim, Those are interesting charts, but I think your math for 2/30 is off by 2 decimal places.
25/30= .833 = 83.3% OK round to 83%
2/30 = .0667 = 6.67%, round to 7% not 1%
3/30 = .1 = 10%
confirm....83+7+10=100 ;)
Wish I'd a seen these charts last year.....
I'd have been changing much sooner. |
