Rent a cake?

Here's something to go along with your iPod wedding... Yes, now you can actually "rent" your wedding cake.

My arteries are cloging with preservatives and artificial flavoring just looking at that.

When I got married 20 years ago we rented the cake. A fancy one for show and a slab cake to eat. Saved plenty of money. I was paying for the wedding myself so it wasn't too fancy. BTW the marrage lasted almost two years.

I always recommend that brides do the Fake Styrofoam Layer Cake, and decorate it really pretty. (about $70 for materials & icing, plus the small bakery cake topper and the little B/G dolls)

Have a small "top layer" for the Cake Cutting (and for B/G to keep in their freezer for one year).

After the Cake Cutting, the entire display (Fake) cake is wheeled into the back room, where they cut up Costco Sheet Cakes ($80 for 150 slices)

Total - $150 for a beautiful monster layer cake that would cost $750 from a custom bakery.

AMOUNT SAVED = $600

this money saving idea got me several gigs when the couple would have hired a Craigslist DJ for $300, but were able to spend $900 on a really good DJ service.

The guests were none the wiser......Costco cakes are incredibly moist and delicious!!!

Jack looking at the picture reminded me, there is a local grocery store's bakery department in my area that makes wedding cakes out of cup cakes. I had a client that had one for their wedding. It look simular to the one in your picture. The creative thing that people come up with now and days.

Cup cakes are also a great money-saving alternative to conventional wedding cakes.

Money-saving, yes.... but isn't that getting a little cheesy?
