Chauvet 4PLAY™ CL: Looks.... good?

Postby CJ Greiner » Thu Jul 14, 2011 12:57 am

I've been looking for some new lights to beef up my light show... without adding too much to my setup time. Here's what I came across, and why I like what I'm seeing:

Chauvet 4PLAY™ CL

The Chauvet 4PLAY provides a ready-to-go lighting bar for the traveling entertainer. The bar is fitted with four LED moonflowers each containing 57 red, green, blue, and white diodes to produce razor-sharp, rotating beams.

____________

The reasons I like this over other effects out there are:
1. They give you something to look AT. Other effects shine their lights around the room, but aren't interesting to look at themselves. THESE lights have a clear shell that becomes an additional effect.
2. They have a center mounting hole in the bar so they can be mounted partway down your speaker or light stand - leaving room on the stand above for speakers or a t-bar of other lights.
3. The also have mounting bolts so you could easily attach O-Clamps for attaching to truss. (In other words - they have multiple mounting options.)
4. Built-in DMX, Master-Slave, Sound-Active, etc.
_______________

Has anyone tried these out? What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Nice light. What's a good price on the unit and does it project at 25-30 feet without much loss of brightness?

There's a local nightclub that installed one of these - I'll see if I can get a pic/video of it in action next time I go.
